Pyjama Day Fundraiser!

On Tuesday 24th June, teachers and students at Killara wore Pyjamas to school to help support the Starlight Children’s Foundation. The Starlight Children’s Foundation is a charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, by giving them the opportunity to laugh, play and be a child again.

The money we raised on the day will go towards making a difference in the lives of these seriously ill, young children and their families.

Check out our class in Pyjamas! What a happy, crazy bunch!

We had a furry visitor!

Yesterday we had a special visitor named “Milo!” She was very cute and cuddly! We all had a pat and poor little Milo was a bit scared and overwhelmed!

Do you know what type of animal “Milo” is?

Our Excursion to IMAX and the Melbourne Museum!

On Monday the 16th June, all the grade 3/4 classes travelled by bus to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX to find out more about our Inquiry topics! We are exploring our wonderful Earth and the students have had the opportunity to choose and focus on one particular aspect of the Earth that is of interest to them. We have been meeting regularly with other students from across the year level during our “Inquiry Workshops,” where the students are learning some fascinating things! Some of the topics students have chosen to explore are Geology, Dinosaurs, Mythology, Astrology, Evolution, Natural Disasters and Space.

Our trip to the Museum was a highlight of our Inquiry so far as we were able to further explore and consolidate our understandings. The Museum was full of amazing and interesting things, many of which we had not seen before.

We then went to the enormous IMAX cinema and watched a documentary called “Earth Wins.” This film explored the impacts of human actions on the Earth and also demonstrated how powerful the Earth is, in terms of Natural Disasters and their effects.

Here are some photos from our excursion…

Have you been to IMAX or the Museum before? What was your highlight?

What are you reading?

One of our favourite books is “Naughty Stories for Good Girls and Boys!” When we read it, Miss. Vosti changes the names of some of the characters in the book to the names of students in our class. This makes the stories even more funny and makes it quite a challenge for Miss. Vosti! Have you ever tried to read a whole story and change the name of the characters? You should have a go!

This week, we had a guest reader read a “Naughty Story” to us 🙂
