Education Week – Science Experiments

Over the past week we have observed some fantastic and interesting Science Experiments! Some of the highlights were observing an egg shell dissolve in vinegar, leaving a rubbery egg! We had a great discussion about which animals lay hard-shelled eggs and which lay soft-shelled eggs and why this is so. We saw lots of chemical reactions, mostly involving ‘Coke’ and bi-carb soda! Thank you to all the students who shared their experiments with us!

Enjoy our photos!

Can you work out which animals lay hard-shelled eggs and why?

Education Week

Last week was Education Week with a Science Focus. We had an open afternoon on Wednesday where our parents and family members came to visit our classrooms and participate in an activity with us. We were given a challenge and had to create a structure out of icy-pole sticks, string and tape that could hold a tennis ball for ten seconds. All groups worked well together and all successfully completed their challenge! Well done students and parents! Thank you for visiting us parents and family members!

Alpha Productions Cinderella Performance!

Last week we were lucky enough to have Alpha Productions visit our school and perform “Cinderella!” The show was very funny and entertaining. Three of our students got chosen to dance with the cast- very exciting! Not only did we have a fantastic time watching the show we also learned some valuable life lessons  about sharing our feelings and letting our emotions out so that we can heal and move forward. Check out our pictures from the show!

What a busy week!

We have been very busy this week in class with our Grade 3s completing their NAPLAN tests! Congratulations to all students who completed NAPLAN this week. Our Grade 3s worked very well and most tried their hardest. The Grade 4s were very patient and considerate of the Grade 3s and worked quietly and productively all week. Well done 3/4F!

Our Home Learning Tasks were due yesterday and some student’s work was outstanding! We explored what would happen if the sun disappeared, described our favourite foods using adjectives, found symmetrical objects around our homes and completed a range of other learning activities. Here are some wonderful examples of our Home Learning Tasks…

Numeracy

In Numeracy we have been exploring Shapes! We have been looking at 2D & 3D shapes and cross-sections, and have been identifying the edges, vertices and faces of 3D shapes. Today we explored many different 3D shapes and built our own models. We really enjoyed working together to create some fantastic and interesting shapes!
